Hollywood Golden Age actress and singer Ann Blyth, best known for her Oscar-nominated performance in Mildred Pierce (1945), has died at the age of 98. She passed away from natural causes on June 24, 2026.

Actress Ann Blyth died peacefully of natural causes on Wednesday at the age of 98, less than two months before her 99th birthday.
Ann began performing on the radio when she was only six. She was Broadway at the age of 12 and she made her first film at 14.
Ann was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as “Veda” opposite Joan Crawford in the 1945 film, “Mildred Pierce.”
Her career spanned more than 70 years in musical theatre, on television and in 35 movies. She also toured for years, singing songs from the Great American Songbook with Bill Hayes and Donald O’Connor.
Ann was active in philanthropy and volunteered for many causes.
Her family says she loved her garden, knitting and oil painting. She was known for gifting her work to friends and family.
Ann and her late husband, Dr. James McNulty, had five children, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
There’s also a star that bears her name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Born Anne Marie Blythe on August 16, 1928, in Mount Kisco, New York, Blyth began performing as a child on radio before moving to Broadway.
She made her film debut in 1944 and achieved her breakthrough just a year later as Veda Pierce, the manipulative daughter of Joan Crawford’s character in Mildred Pierce. Her performance earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress when she was only 16 years old.
Over the next decade, Blyth starred in more than 30 films, showcasing her versatility in dramas, musicals, and romantic comedies. Her notable credits include The Great Caruso, Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid, Rose Marie, The Student Prince, Kismet, Brute Force, and The Helen Morgan Story.
After stepping away from films, she continued appearing in television productions such as The Twilight Zone, Quincy, M.E., and Murder, She Wrote before retiring from acting in 1985.
Ann Blyth was married to obstetrician Dr. James McNulty from 1953 until his death in 2007. The couple had five children — Timothy, Maureen, Kathleen, Terence, and Eileen — along with several grandchildren.
